Geoff’s hard work, dedication, and entrepreneurial spirit have caused him to excel in the practice of public accounting. He joined the firm as a co-operative education student in 1998, while studying at the University of Ottawa. As one of the firm’s first employees, Geoff benefited from both a wide range and significant depth of experience in audit, accounting and tax. In 2000, Geoff graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Ottawa with a Bachelor of Commerce Honours in Accounting (Cooperative Program). Geoff obtained his CA designation in 2003.
Geoff was promoted to partner in the firm in 2007. His leadership and strong work ethic have proved invaluable to the firm’s success, particularly during and immediately following the acquisition of three Ottawa based public accounting firms. As the firm’s “Professional Standards Leader”, Geoff has played a fundamental role with the design, implementation and monitoring of many of the firm’s quality control policies and procedures.
Geoff has and continues to play an active role recruiting, hiring, and mentoring the firm’s aspiring accountants. Geoff’s direct, no nonsense approach to accounting, assurance and tax matters are appreciated not only by his clients, but also by his colleagues. Geoff is passionate about establishing strong, professional long-term relationships with all his business associates. His primary objective is providing clients with the most timely, effective, and efficient solutions possible. Geoff is particularly passionate about consulting small business owners, professionals, and self-employed individuals on personal and corporate taxation, finance, estate planning and general business administration and development. He also has extensive experience with audits and reviews of small to medium sized enterprises, both in the for profit and not-for profit sectors. Geoff also has extensive experience with SR&ED investment tax credit claims. He has also consulted on numerous mergers, acquisitions, sales, and reorganizations of small business corporations and not-for-profit organizations throughout his more than 20 years in public accounting.
In his spare time, Geoff enjoys being a committed and loyal husband to his wife Stacie and father to his children Shailyn and Noah. His favourite pastimes are travelling, golfing, relaxing by the pool, driving his sports car, and hanging out with the family Shih Tzu, Gizmo. He also enjoys spectating most sporting events, whether in person or on television. Geoff attributes much of his overall happiness and success in life and in his career to the strong family values and work ethic instilled by his parents Don and Doreen.
Geoff is a member of the Chartered Professional Accountants of Ontario and holds a Public Accounting License.
